Mission: The Ministers of Care seek to minister to the elderly and sick members of the community with dignity and respect, offering compassionate care and encouraging a sense of belonging and connection to the Body of Christ through the Eucharist.
Role in Heart to Pray: Heart to pray is defined as “The greatest single move you can make in life to commit yourself to personal prayer, growing in love with Jesus and allowing that love to shape every aspect of your being”. Ministers of care being Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist exemplify this statement in every way. Every day, Extraordinary Ministers deepen their love of Jesus by personal prayer which allows us to share the love of Jesus with others.
Role in Heart to Serve: Ministers of Care serve the faithful by giving of their time and love of Christ to those in need; those who due to age, illness or circumstances cannot participate in the Eucharist in person with the St Benedict’s parish community.
Role in Heart to Share: Share the love of Jesus through providing the opportunity for those who are unable to regularly attend church to remain involved in church, through visits, fellowship and the administering of the Lord’s Supper.
Role in Heart to Witness:
“Jesus teaches us to go out.
Go out and share your testimony.
Go out and interact with your brothers and sisters.
Go out and share.
Go out and ask.
Become the Word in body as well as spirit”. Pope Francis
Every day and in every way, Ministers of Care become the word in body as well as spirit.
