Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council will change from a strategic planning model to a visionary model. This change indicates a movement from a programmatic or finance- driven council to one that is more vision-focused.  This, of course, does not deny the importance of activity and fiscal responsibility. The gifts of all parishioners are respected and sought. Those who have the gift to vision and plan strategically will be the type of person invited to become a member of the Pastoral Council. Those who have the gift of executing programs are invited to join the many areas of parish ministry, such as Prayer & Worship, Faith Formation, Education, Discipleship/Outreach and Communications. We need volunteers from a broad spectrum in order to implement the goals and objectives of parish life. Genuine Stewardship calls us to use our talents for the greater good of the community!

Membership on the new Pastoral Council will be completed in a three-step process:

STEP I: You may nominate a person whom you feel has the gift of vision: one who is able to see beyond the present moment; someone who likes to explore a broad range of possibilities; one who enjoys working with long-range goals; the type of person who is capable of engaging in strategic planning.  (Nominations now closed)

The criterion to be considered for Pastoral Council includes the following: they must be a baptized Catholic, have been a registered member of our parish for at least two years, be a participant in the on-going worship of the parish, and be at least twenty-one years old. Please ask the person you are nominating if they would be willing to serve in this capacity.

STEP II: After all the nominations have been compiled, a “Willingness to Serve” form will be sent to all who have been nominated.

STEP III: All persons who have accepted the nomination will be invited to a “Discernment Retreat” which will be held on September 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. During this time, the 8 to 10 nominees will learn more about the role of PC delegates and pray about their response to this call to serve. The new members of Pastoral Council will be announced the Weekend of October 2-3. The first meeting of the new group will be held the week of October 4. Of course, the most important part of the entire process is the prayerful support offered by each of our parishioners!
