Welcome to St. Benedict Catholic Church

Welcome to St. Benedict Catholic Church. We hope that as you learn more about our parish and have the opportunity to attend Sunday liturgy with us, you will experience a warm welcome and a true sense of community.
We have adopted St. Benedict as our patron to reinforce one of his teachings that “the church is a community – a community of learners in the school of service.” This teaching is core to our parish life and captures our mission statement quite well.
With over 500 registered families, our parish serves Mt. Pleasant, Awendaw, McClellanville and other areas east of the Cooper River and offers unique resources, ministries and spiritual enrichment opportunities for our members.
As a parish with over 100 young families, both a Nursery and a separate Children’s Liturgy of the Word are offered during Sunday 9:30 Mass. The social time after Sunday Mass has become a favorite hallmark of our community as members and guests gather in fellowship to greet and get to know one another. It is a valuable time for guests and new parishioners to ask questions and experience a true sense of the parish life.
We have a strong belief that religion is caught more than taught. The young members who are an integral part of parish life learn by experiencing their faith from and alongside their parents and others in the community.
Our parish is constructing a permanent church home off of U.S. Highway 17 North on Darrell Creek Trail in Mount Pleasant. The first phase of construction includes our church, offices, meeting spaces and educational facilities.
